2008 Tax Form 1040 Schedule C

Self-Employment Tax question. please help?

I was self-employed in 2008, and had no health insurance. I had an accident and had to pay a hospital bill of $1303 out of my pocket. I understand that this amount is tax deductible. Where in the schedule C or 1040 form do i write this in??

thanks

personal health expenditures go on Schedule A [Itemized Deductions]; if, of course, you itemize.

Only a business health deduction should be tried on Schedule C and you’ll have to use the line for Other Expenses and provide a written description.

What I suggest is sending in a letter documenting why it is a business expense; otherwise, you should expect it to both delay the processing of your return and/or cause an audit.
